On November 8, 2016, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States of America. His campaign was filled with hate speech toward essentially all underprivileged groups in our county. In solidarity with the women, people of color, people with disabilities, non-Christians, and others who have been insulted, denigrated, and devalued through this election, I offer 1534 days of love — daily reminders that you are loved and valued, that America is at its best when we lift each other up, not when we drag each other down, and that, as Dr. King said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
